Our infrared sauna differs from a traditional sauna in that it uses infrared light to create heat within the body rather than heating the air around you. Infrared saunas emit light waves that penetrate deep into your core, causing you to sweat and release stored toxins. 

 

Infrared saunas create profound therapeutic benefits, including an increase in blood flow, heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate. Infrared light waves also work to reduce pain and inflammation as heat is able to penetrate joints, muscles and tissues. An increase in blood flow allows for greater oxygenation to these areas which can further aid in tissue repair. 

 

Saunas have been clinically shown to aid in weight loss, as a 30 minute session can burn upwards of 600 calories. A 2009 study conducted by Dr. Richard Beever showed that infrared saunas provide significant results in both lowering blood pressure and waist circumference within 3 months.

Our sauna also comes equipped with a chromotherapy light. Chromotherapy uses different wavelengths of color light to promote healing by altering the body’s biochemistry. When used in conjunction with an infrared sauna therapy, chromotherapy is able to deeply penetrate and be absorbed by soft tissue. It has recently gained popularity for its potential to heal skin lesions and scarring from chronic conditions such as acne and psoriasis. In addition to its effects on skin health, chromotherapy has the potential to stabilize mood for people with seasonal affective disorder and depression. Our mood is dependent on the function of the pineal gland, a small endocrine gland and potent receptor to light transmission. When exposed to chromotherapy lights, pineal gland activity is enhanced providing deeper sleep and mood regulation.
